Helena Smith was born, raised and educated in Southwest Louisiana in a small community called
Gueydan. Her parents were Leroy and Helen Maxile Williams. They had seven children, five of which are living.
In 1969 Helena graduated from University of Southwestern Louisiana, currently known as University of Louisiana in Lafayette, with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN). Helena’s career in nursing was spent mostly in the area of Medical-Surgical and Physical Rehabilitation Nursing. She is currently retired from nursing and owns and operates a small medical billing business.
Helena is married to Clarence Williams, Jr, and have two awesome adult children along with two absolutely gorgeous grandchildren. She became a member of Lincoln Memorial United Church of Christ where she serves as a Deacon, Chair of the Trustee Board, and Co Chair of the Health Ministry.
Her passion is fair treatment of the elderly, especially in the area of health care, and she is passionate about treatment of children, especially those who do not have anyone to advocate for them. Helena’s interests are in genealogy, designing and making garments. She is a person who keeps her word. If she tells you she’ll do something, then you can definitely count on her! She tries to be honest and upfront about what she will or will not do.
