Lincoln Family Life Center Builds with Habitat for Humanity

Los Angeles, CA,  - Saturday August 25, 2007 was an exciting day in the life of  the Lincoln Family.  Early Saturday morning, outfitted with hats, work gloves, closed toed shoes and sunscreen, we embarked on a new experience. What did we do?  We helped Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to build houses.

Our working site was the Vermont Village located on 112th and Vermont.  What a joy for us to use the tools of the building trade to help build single family homes.  Some of us had hammers and nails, some installed windows, some of us were up 10 feet high on scaffolding making the building secure from the wind and rain.  We were instructed in all manner of building by the expert Habitat team.

The Lincoln Crew and the Habitat crew started the day off in prayer, and let me tell you could just feel the presence of God on that site. On this Saturday we showed our commitment to our community and to what God would have us to do!!  All Praise and Honor to God for allowing us to participate in such a wonderful cause.

Then at lunch, and you know Lincoln how we like to eat;  the Lincoln Lunch Volunteers showed up and showed out with the amount of food that they prepared.  The Lincoln and Habitat crews had more than enough food to eat and drink.  Thank you to all of the Lunch Volunteers for such a wonderful spread.  And of course to all of you who took the time out of your busy schedules and helped to make this day a success we say  a big resounding  “THANK YOU”.

We received a special thank you from Deborah Lewis of the Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles office.  Deborah writes —  “I'm so glad to hear that your build day was so successful. I know that Lincoln's commitment will have lasting effects not only in the physical building of one of the Vermont Village houses but also in the lives both now and eternal of those who live there.  I'm also excited to hear that Lincoln would like to continue in this partnership.  I am on vacation through September 10th but when I get back I'd love to have a conversation about what we can do in the future! “
